It has come to our attention that numerous car owners (including our own members) are experiencing difficulty starting their car especially in the mornings, some of their cars are new!

So…. what seems to be the problem?!

The answer; it’s probably the petrol you’ve been using.
The new introduction of the cheaper and lower octane level petrol, RON 95 seems to be the culprit.

However, do not panic!

RON 95 is not a bad quality fuel, but because of it’s lower resistance to abnormal combustion phenomenon known as pre-detonation or knocking or pinging; all the unburned fuel results in lots of carbon deposits, which change the shape of the combustion chamber and can cause more knocking or even difficulty to start your engine.

Some solutions:
1. If you have been experiencing difficulty starting your engine; try revving (accelerating) hard while in a stand-still (neutral gear). Rev your engine to around 6000rpm, release the accelerator the moment the needle touches the 6000rpm mark, than repeat another 2-3 more times. Make sure your engine is already warmed up (engine temperature indicator in the middle).
**This will help knock off some of the carbon deposits in your engine out through your exhaust

2. Switch to RON97 fuel or better after every 2-3times of using RON95. This will help clear some carbon deposits in your engine.

3. Fill 60% of RON95 and 40% with RON97 when filling your car up with petrol.

Hope you have found this tip to be useful!

A local newspaper recently highlighted a similar case so we believe the incident to this individual below is probably real. Just read and be aware.

Do Not Switch off your phone… – unknown

Its all started when I received a call from someone claiming that he was from Maxis and he asked me to shutdown my phone for 2 hours for 3g update to take place. As I was rushing for a meeting, I did not question and shutdown my cell phone.

After 45 minutes I felt very suspicious since the caller did not even introduce his name. I quickly turned on my cell phone and I received several calls from my family members and the others were from the number that had called me earlier – 3954380.

I called my parents and I was shocked that they sounded very worried asking me whether I am safe.

My parents told me that they had received a call from someone claiming that they had me with them and asking for money to let me free. The call was so real and my parents even heard ‘my voice’ crying out loud asking for help.

My parent was at the bank waiting for next call to proceed for money transfer. I told my parents that I am safe and asked them to lodge a police report.

Right after that I received another call from the guy asking me to shutdown my cell phone for another 1 hour which I refused to do and hung up. They keep calling my cell phone until the battery had run down.

I myself lodged a police report and I was informed by the officer that there were many such scams reported.

MOST of the cases reported that the victim had already transferred the money! And it is impossible to get back the money.

Be careful as this kind of scam might happen to any one of us!!! Those guys are so professional and very convincing during calls.

If you are asked to shut down your cell phone for updates by the service provider, ASK AROUND!

Your family or friends might receive the same call…

Be Safe and Stay Alert!

The elbow is the strongest point on your body. If you are close enough to use it, do!

2. Learned this from a tourist guide.

If a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM. Toss it away from you…. Chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or purse than you, and he will go for the wallet/purse. RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!

3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car,
kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy.. The driver won’t see you, but everybody else will. This has saved lives.

4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars
after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit (doing their chequebook, or making a list, etc. DON’T DO THIS! The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to your head, and tell you where to go. AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR, LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE.. If someone is in the car with a gun to your head DO NOT DRIVE OFF, Repeat: DO NOT DRIVE OFF! Instead gun the engine
and speed into anything, wrecking the car. Your Air Bag will save you. If the person is in the back seat they will get the worst of it . As soon as the car crashes bail out and run. It is better than having them find your body in a remote location.

5. A few notes about getting
into your car in a parking lot, or parking garage:

A.) Be aware: look around you, look into your car, at the passenger side floor, and in the back seat

B.) If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars.

C.) Look at the car parked on the driver’s side of your vehicle, and the passenger side… If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out. IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.)

6. ALWAYS take the elevator
instead of the stairs. Stairwells are horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot. This is especially true at NIGHT!)

7. If the predator has a gun
and you are not under his control, ALWAYS RUN! The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times; and even then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ. RUN, Preferably in a zig -zag pattern!

8. As women, we are always trying
to be sympathetic: STOP It may get you raped, or killed. Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked ‘for help’ into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.

9. Another Safety Point:
Someone just told me that her friend heard a crying baby on her porch the night before last, and she called the police because it was late and she thought it was weird.. The police told her ‘Whatever you do, DO NOT open the door..’ The lady then said that it sounded like the baby had crawled near a window, and she was worried that it would crawl to the street and get run over. The policeman said, ‘We already have a unit on the way, whatever you do, DO NOT open the door.’ He told her that they think a serial killer has a baby’s cry recorded and uses it to coax women out of their homes thinking that someone dropped off a baby. He said they have not verified it, but have had several calls by women saying that they hear baby’s cries outside their doors when they’re home alone at night.

10 . Water scam!
If you wake up in the middle of the night to hear all your taps outside running or what you think is a burst pipe, DO NOT GO OUT TO INVESTIGATE! These people turn on all your outside taps full ball so that you will go out to investigate and
then attack.

Stay alert, keep safe, and look out for your neighbours!

The emergency telephone system is standard nationwide to enable callers to reach emergency services by phone with a minimum of difficulty. If you have an emergency involving the safety of life or property, you are encouraged to make use of the system. In most areas, you may dial the emergency number from a pay phone without the need for coins. If your area has enhanced emergency number with automatic number identification and automatic location identification, your name, address and telephone number will be displayed on a screen at the emergency operator’s position when the connection is made. Help can be dispatched to your location even if you don’t get a chance to say a word!

In view of shocking increase in crime rates; please do read the following;

Any person… even you… can become a victim of crime at any time. A criminal may still target you even if you’ve take every step possible to prevent and protect yourself. Take a moment and ask yourself a few questions: If you were to be involved in a hit and run accident, what would you do? If you came home and noticed the front door was open or a window was broken, how would you react? If you were assaulted outside of your home, do you know where you would go? In other words- do you know exactly what to do if you become the victim of a crime?

Here are a couple of pointers:

* Medical attention. Following a violent crime, one of the most important things to do in addition to alerting the authorities is getting yourself checked out by appropriate medical personnel. Even if you believe you are fine, it is always a good idea to be looked at by a trained professional. You may still be in shock and not aware enough to fully grasp what has happened to you, and how much damage your body may have sustained. You may want to consider counseling or therapy. People are often affected mentally and emotionally just as much, if not more, than they are physically after being victimized.
* 999(M’sia), 911(USA), 000(AUS), 999(S’pore). The single most important number for any victim of a crime to use. Whether you have been assaulted, robbed or involved in an accident in which the person who caused the collision has fled the scene, the first number to call is always the emergency numbers above. Remain calm as the emergency operator asks what has happened, and give as many details as possible. Depending on the circumstances, they will immediately dispatch police officers, fire personnel or other emergency services to your location.

Date Rape Drugs

The most popular use of date rape drugs to incapacitate women so that they are completely helpless. The drugs start to work almost immediately: first the victim will have trouble breathing, then they will start to lose control over their own body, and the end result is usually a total blackout. When the victim wakes up, they will very likely not have any memory at all of what happened to them.

Perhaps the primary reasons why date rape drugs are so commonly used is that they are small, easy to conceal and very difficult to detect. They are odorless, and generally have no taste.

Each one is available as a small pill, liquid or powder in that will completely dissolve in any liquid, so it easy to slip one into a drink. This happens to many women who are out on a date with an acquaintance they don’t know very well. The man offers to purchase beverages, sneaks a drug into one glass, and soon after makes a hasty exit claiming he must take his date home because she has had too much to drink. Once the victim has completely succumbed to the effects of the drug, she will not be able to defend herself or object to unwanted advances.

The best way to stay safe is to avoid being drugged at all and these 2 tips can save you.

1. When you are out with someone you do not know well, be wary of having him pick up a drink for you.
2. Watch the bartender make your beverage, and be sure no one else touches it before you do. Statistics have shown that most women are given drugs by someone they thought they knew well enough to trust, so be aware!
