Did you know? In 2008 there is a total of 373,047 vehicle accidents?!!

In 2008, the official total count of vehicle accidents in Malaysia is a whopping 373,047 accidents! (stats taken from PDRM – Polis Diraja Malaysia).

That is about 1022 accidents per day!! :0

Deaths resulting from vehicle accidents?
6527 of senseless & probably avoidable deaths!

Come on Malaysians, we’ve got to take responsibility and do something about it.

From our research we have found out that:-
1. Selangor has the highest rate of accidents – 100,380 accidents in 2008
2. Contrary to popular assumption – most accidents involves cars (not motorcycles)
3. Most accidents happens from overtaking or changing lanes without warning!

So Malaysians; here is how we can reduce the amount of accidents on the road;
1. Be PATIENT! Do not overtake unnecessarily!
2. Do not be zig-zaggin in and out of your lanes, stay put in your lane especially during a traffic jam
3. If you do need to switch lanes, USE your signal lights! Turn it on about 5seconds before you actually turn out of your lane. Signal lights are not there for car beautification purposes.
4. Do not tailgate! If you are in an emergency and require to go fast, turn on your hazard lights and use your headlights to flash or honk the car ahead of you while keeping about 5 metres away from the car at the front.

p/s: this is something you should share with everyone else, it could save.. many lives!
